Equilibrium Series

Balance is necessary in all things. Equilibrium calls attention to balance, to different views of the same subject, and how when these views align, they strengthen and deepen the meaning of what you are seeing. People all want the same things. Love, Justice, Freedom, Security, the Chance to Succeed. These hopes and dreams have been repeating themselves over and over for all of human history, yet we are always at odds with each other. Equilibrium represents the beauty of different viewpoints coming together to create something mysterious and complex, alluring and much more interesting than seeing the world from only one angle. I have used base images that inspire me; from trees to peeling wallpaper to garbage and much more, to illustrate how any subject can take on a life of its own when given a chance. These images are then printed as pigment transfers onto film carrier sheets, then transferred with a 91% alcohol mixture onto rice paper, which is then adhered to a board and sanded, varnished, and waxed into the finished piece. They are printed in a limited edition of 5 of each image, and due to the transfer process, each one will have slight differences and imperfections.
